Let the games begin!

Today starts the T-Tapp 60-Day Challenge, and my measurements and photos are posted.

My weight is exactly the same as it was on the 1st. My measurements have only dropped by 2.25″. But the pictures? Ah, the pictures show a different story, one of muscle being built and back fat starting to burn off. Too bad I wore loose shorts for my first photos, else you could also see how my rear end has magically started to levitate, thanks to the T-Tapp Buttlift ™.

Random:

  • The Google calendar is now working properly.
  • The dairy-free diet is driving me nuts (ever try to find a quick meal that doesn’t have cheese?), but if I’m not imagining things, Gavin seems less fussy. It’s definitely affecting me, and my sinuses — which have been chronically semi-stuffed — are draining like crazy today.
  • I’ve modified my workout calendar to put B/R on a MWF schedule once my mini bootcamp of Instructional 1&2 is over.
  • We’re taking a roadtrip to Phoenix next Thursday, and that means I HAD to buy some clothing appropriate for warmer weather, since it’s in the 90s already. Size 16. Not as bad as I’d feared, but still…ack.
  • On that note, it’s time for me to decide which category to join for the contest. Since my goal is definitely no larger than a size 8, that technically makes me “More to Lose,” but I’m not sure if it’s wise to go into that one…against all the gals who REALLY have more to lose. I’ll review last year’s winners and try to decide.
  • One final: When a gal says, “OMG, my butt is SO big, and it defies gravity!” the proper husbandly response is silence, not a murmur of assent. ***roll eyes***

Happy Friday, all!

4Apr08

You know, if posting photos was humiliating, my first run through Instructional #2 was even worse. So, if that’s true, why am I smiling? And feeling SO GOOD?

Yesterday was an unplanned “off” day — Gavin (4 weeks, 1 day) decided it was time for cluster feeding, so I spent pretty much all day with a baby attached to my chest. D’oh. On the bright side, I think I quite literally drank a full gallon of water…I needed it!

Anyhoo, first run at Instructional 2 is done. I actually did it all, with the exception of the second set of Hoe Downs. OMG, I forgot how much I’d begun to despise those by last Fall! It was quite a shocker to realize how out of shape and weak I am now (did I really used to breeze through TWO?), but I can also tell just from how I feel that this stuff WORKS.

I’m now dripping with sweat, and of course, Gavin is waking up. So much for taking a shower, huh?

1-2Apr08

I did Instructional #1 yesterday, and I woke up SORE this morning. Guess that means I did something right, so I did it AGAIN today. Yay, me.

I neglected to mention yesterday, but the photos ARE up finally. They’re scary, but they’re up. To make things better (or worse?) I’m considering finding myself a bikini before the 11th; as humiliating as current bikini photos would feel, they REALLY would show changes even better than workout clothing will.

When I bought the workout shorts/jog bra, I also picked up a full-length mirror. It’s the first time I’ve had regular access to one since moving away from Santa Fe in early February (read: pre-baby). Yesterday, I found it to be a scary thing (ie, yikes, I can see my WHOLE body). Today, it dawned on me that I can also use it to check my form — the bathroom where it hangs has plenty of space for some basic T-Tapp moves. Hooray!

Tight Club assignment for April 1

Write your five reasons for joining Tight Club:

  1. Post-baby, my body feels ANYTHING but hot. I’m supposed to be hot.
  2. I’ve had some challenge with getting myself off the sofa and active, already — TC gives me the kick in the ass to just press play.
  3. Two kids. One me. NEED MORE ENERGY.
  4. I am convinced of the importance of setting a good example for my daughter of a healthy attitude toward fitness. When I work out regularly, the rest of my fitness focus tends to fall into place.
  5. Natural antidepressant = endorphins.

Tight Club Launch

Welcome to Tight Club. I’ll have a few more days before I get my customized workout plan for April from Kirsten (since I did only do the questionnaire late last week), but until then, I’m starting out with Instructional 1. The idea is to do the whole thing, but you know, however far I get (without falling over — or heck, maybe when I just get fatigued from picking myself back up again) will be fine.

I took new measurements today, and from a few rounds of PBS, a bit of OIP/HF, and a long walk? My lower thighs are 3/4″ and 1″ smaller. My waist? Down 1-1/2″. Calves? 1/2″ smaller apiece. It’s safe to say that my body is starting to respond at an amazing rate — 7″ dropped since last Wednesday, with barely any work. I can’t wait to see what happens once I start actually working hard!

Photos are coming soon — I did *force* myself to buy something for pictures during an outing down to Santa Fe and Target yesterday. Wow…I forgot how challenging managing a dressing room plus a baby can be! Gavin was asleep on my chest, so I laid him on top of the Beco while I tried on my first (and, as it worked out, only) round of clothing. All was well until he woke up; then he was quite upset at not being held! Anyway, as it worked out, once I tried on workout shorts and a jog bra, I realized that the second round of prospects to try on (bikinis) was NOT going to be anywhere near my body. Let’s just say that shorts and a jog bra show quite enough, thankyouverymuch.

Perhaps I’ll be willing to switch to a bikini for the size 12/14 and down phase of this baby weight drop! Right now, not so much. I’m just glad that the tape measure gave me a good push of encouragement this morning; I needed it.

Baby Steps

First goals for nutrition/food:

  1. Drink at least 90 ounces of water per day, goal of a gallon (128oz).
  2. Remove sugary foods from my diet, starting April 1.
  3. Continue to eat on a “Naturally Thin” basis — real food, when hungry.

First goal for workout:

  • April 1-10: Instructionals 1 and 2, EOD until I’ve done each 2-3x.
  • PBS/OIP/HF on off days.
