After my 3Feb bitch session, I decided to lay off myself until the DVDs arrived, already. Since then, I had my Lasik surgery (20/15 the morning after, hooo-ah!), and was so hyper from the 18-20 hours of sleep I got alone in a hotel that I decided the drive to Colorado *could* happen a day sooner than I’d planned. Maya and I packed up, and we headed north. AND, I registered for the Thornton (Denver) clinic.
OMG, the clinic was wonderful. The highlight of the day for me had to be Becky (Denver area cert trainer) asking me, “so you don’t have the DVDs yet, right?” Me: “No, I’m still waiting.” Becky: “Well, your form is really, really good.” I think I glowed from that for the rest of the day!
Little tips I picked up:
- To keep feet flat when KLT, press the ball of the foot into the floor, and lift the little toe.
- Do NOT lift up high for organs in place. That tightens the ab muscles, making it more difficult to get your hands in there to shift everything. Only lift about 2″ off the floor.
- When the instructions call for hands on hips, thumbs on the back, instead, put your hands “in your back pocket.” That SERIOUSLY pulls the shoulders back even more. It’s impossible to NOT have your shoulder in correct position that way. Also, if you cup your crack (ha!) with that hand, it’s easier to keep your hand in place. I’ve got good “handles” for that, LOL.
The biggest lesson? Go easy on myself. I’m doing way better than I thought.
So, here’s what I’ve done since February 3…
Feb 10
3 hours of T-Tapp goodness, with Kirsten and Becky cracking a whip to remind me to keep my hips tucked and stomach in. God, I forever keep letting my belly go soft. I felt this workout. REALLY felt this workout, as in, every muscle in my body was sore the next day, even some I hadn’t worked before — ones that wrap around the back of my hips!
Feb 11-14
Nothing, nada, zip. Maya got a stomach bug on the 12th, and I otherwise just had a hard time making time to get the workouts in. We drove home to Santa Fe on the 14th.
Feb 15
- Instructional #1
- Hoe Downs
- OIP/HF/OIP
- Body Brushing (shower)
Feb 16
- Instructional #2
- Advanced Hoe Downs
- OIP/HF/OIP
I’ll get around to brushing while I shower…in a few minutes. Ah the joy of working from home, in workout clothing, sweaty. The clients don’t care. They don’t have to smell me.
For what it’s worth, I am not dieting AT ALL while I’m doing this. In fact, after the seminar, my cousin and I were ravenously hungry (3 hours of T-Tapp will do that to ya), and we completely gorged ourselves at The Cheesecake Factory. Ohhhhh, yum. The next day was Joy’s son’s 2nd birthday party, and we didn’t exactly eat healthfully for that, either. Actually, I’ve eaten a silly amount of sugar and fat over the past week…and yet, I’m still seeing positive changes in my body. This exercise rocks.
My cousin — that was a last-minute addition. Lani decided to join me (invited herself along, even) on the drive up to Denver/Thornton, even though she hadn’t even read the book yet. After I told her about the seminar, she spent time on the t-tapp site, reading articles and decided that this was exactly what she needed to finally get her postpartum body back into shape. The timing was perfect; she’d already told her husband she wanted to get back into yoga…or something. Even with a year of no workouts (restricted pregnancy, then six months postpartum), Lani kept up with the seminar like a champ. I’m not surprised.
