No workout today…at least I’m not planning one. Maya’s gotten the latest round of crud from daycare, and while she woke up bouncy today, I’m still dragging ass. How the *&^% a kid can wake up hyper after having a 103-degree fever in the middle of the night is beyond me… Ah to be two.

I bit the bullet and took measurements for my first weak-attempt at a week of T-Tapp. Considering that I’ve not done very much yet, I’m impressed. Way impressed.

One thing that I find fascinating, looking at these numbers, is the balance that I’m gaining between the size of my left/right sides after only a week. My thighs, lower thighs, and calves are all now even across left/right — something I don’t know if I’ve *ever* seen. Nice.

This morning, I woke up sore. This is a good thing. I’m also starting to feel a bit lighter — around the abdomen, ribs, lower thighs — the spots where I usually show results first.

Rather than working out first thing, as I *know* is best for me personally, I waited until some time after lunch. Even though it’d been a good 2 hours since a meal, my leftovers were just heavy enough to give me issues. *SIGH* Let’s just say that Organs-in-Place, followed by the mostly-bent-over primary back stretch, isn’t a really good idea for someone who has a hiatal hernia. Here’s what I’ve done so far today:

  • OIP/HF/OIP
  • Primary Back Stretch
  • Hoe Downs

I’d already decided to quit after the PBS, but since HDs are upright, I couldn’t resist. My balance has already improved tremendously just in the past week, and now, going through 2 sets of HD, I can really feel my hip flexor muscles on the second set! Whew!

Given time, I’m going to try to add the Plie Series later today — even if “out of order.” I simply want to learn the moves so I can start adding them, one at a time, to my daily routine. In theory, tomorrow is my day to measure again. We’ll see about that…

Our Christmas Day this year was idyllic — Mike and I were on our honeymoon in Costa Rica. Here, I lounge on a catamaran off the coast of Manuel Antonio National Park.

In this one, you can see a little more clearly the *before* nature of these pictures. I’m pretty thankful at this point for the sarong! In time, not only will I not need the sarong; I’ll want to buy a smaller-sized pair of bikini bottoms. Really. I mean it.

Once I got myself moving, I felt wonderful about getting started. So far today:

  • OIP/HF (with DVD)
  • Hoe-Downs
  • Advanced Hoe-Downs
  • (later…while waiting for a phone call) more Hoe-Downs
  • a *smidge* of the plies, watching Teresa’s form on the web video

I’d hoped to take the dog out for some more T-Tapp stance walking, but work just gets in the way. At least I feel like I *did* something today! I mailed my 30%-off coupon voucher last Friday, so I’m hopeful that they’ll email soon to tell me I can order.

I’m *so* getting the Total System. This just feels right.

Friday/Saturday: Nada. Zip. Zilch.

We headed to Albuquerque for errands (my GOD Santa Fe is so freakin’ small), and I simply didn’t *want* to attempt to figure out form on new exercises with the dh around — he’s off every other Friday.

On Saturday, I planned to hit it as soon as dh left for his dance class, but the *instant* that he closed the garage door to head out, my daughter woke from her nap. Clingy. Oh, well.

Sunday:
We walked (as a family) about 3 miles along an often snow/ice-covered bike trail that runs near our home. During the walk, I carried my daughter (23-24 pounds) on my back, and emphasized form, trying to remember to tuck my hips and raise my chest. Don’t you know, I was sore afterward? It’s amazing how just a little form change can make even a simple walk into a workout!
